Kristina & McLain’s Wedding
We love creating the most romantic details in the most unique places, and Kristina and McLain’s intimate Amangiri wedding brought understated glamour and luxury to a remote corner of the American Southwest.
Amangiri is a place unlike any other. The starkly beautiful landscape of dramatic canyons and sandstone arches transports you to another world; the sheer grandeur of the place gives weddings the momentous sense of significance they deserve. And Kristina and McLain’s celebration was no exception. For this romantic wedding weekend celebration, our couple invited their guests to spend Friday in communion with each other in the desert, enjoying a poolside soiree at Camp Sarika. This welcome dinner was the perfect kick off for an intimate and wild experience in the desert heart of Utah.
While Amangiri offers accessible wedding sites near their main pavilion and hotel structure, we wanted to create a more intimate, unique vibe for our couple, so we designed their ceremony at a remote rock alcove at the foot of a towering 600-feet high mesa. Our team hiked up sandstone rocks to design a ceremony site featuring an asymmetrical arch – set to contrast the lines of the rock formations – with lush and airy florals to evoke a sense of understated luxury. Natural wood benches and monochromatic florals throughout the smooth sandstone site gave the ceremony area an organic but intentional feel.
For the reception, we doubled down on our commitment to create something unique for our couple: a magical dinner in a secret cove nestled within sandstone. Pulling this dinner design off was no easy feat but worth it a thousand times over. Our intimate dinner in the cliffs overlooked the vast surroundings of Amangiri and its desert landscape, giving guests the feeling that they’d been transported to a world apart. While the location was private and hidden, not a single element was compromised as we worked with Siren Floral Co. to create one of our favorite luxury tablescapes to date.
Creating a continuous arch of banquet tables, we pulled our inspiration from the desert’s color palette. A dove sheer silk runner added an organic, luxurious touch; taupe runners, sage linen napkins and ceramic stoneware pulled in warm and neutral stone tones in the surrounding desert. But one of our favorite details for this intimate desert reception was the overhead hanging installation that cascaded above the reception table. Filled with airy branches and florals, we added suspended candles to provide light and ambiance, creating an elevated and romantic design.
At once modern and rugged, elegant and understated, this intimate Amangiri elopement is proof that creating beautiful designs in the most remote places is always well worth it.
